Comparisons of Quad Dell T3400 and Dell 490 Servers

These servers are similarish spec; the T3400 has a quad core, with 8 GB RAM and a Radeon 512MB X1800; the 490 has 2 Dual core Intel 5130s, 4GB RAM and an ATI Firepro v3750. I plan to upgrade the CPUs to possible:

an X5460 can be installed in Precision 490??? Heat sinks?

The Dell 490 Win7 rating:

The Dell T3400 Win7  rating:

A completely meaningless score (what do you expect from MS?) as it's just the worst score of all of the numbers - not even an average or other stat calc..

The t3400 is a far superior machine in practice - the CPU is about 2 x faster, it has 2 x memory, and a better graphics card - and is much quieter!

First I'll show the Win7 GPU test results for Unigine basic settings for each:

Neither of these ATI Radeon Firepro v3750 or X1800 cards are fully Mint kernel or driver compatible for gaming or Steam. (Steam doesn't run on Mint 18 for Sarah or Serena anyway).

It runs Unigine Sanctuary Demo via Phoronix, which may be a way to get missing libs installed for Heaven...

Call of Duty World of War and Modern Warfare run well on Win7, but Advanced Warfare does not run at all on the X1800.
